A workshop day is easier to control when the team reviews the same operational checkpoints rather than reacting only when something becomes urgent. The checklist should stay short enough to use every day.

Before the first vehicles arrive

  • Review today's bookings and technician capacity.
  • Identify jobs waiting on parts or previous approval.
  • Check courtesy or collection arrangements.
  • Confirm any special tools, parts or external services needed.

At customer check-in

  • Confirm customer concern and requested work.
  • Confirm vehicle and contact details.
  • Record keys and practical intake notes.
  • Clarify approval expectations for additional work.

During the day

  • Keep job status current.
  • Record technician findings promptly.
  • Follow up customer approvals.
  • Move ready jobs forward when another job is blocked.
  • Update parts delays rather than leaving jobs looking active.

Before vehicles leave

  • Confirm completed work.
  • Prepare the invoice from the job record.
  • Explain deferred recommendations.
  • Set future reminders where appropriate.
  • Close or update the job status.

At the end of the day

Review unfinished jobs, tomorrow's bookings, unpaid invoices and anything waiting on customer or supplier action. This prevents today's loose ends becoming tomorrow morning's surprises.
