Google reviews can help local customers judge a workshop before they book. The best review process is simple, consistent and based on genuine customer experiences rather than discounts or pressure.

Ask at the right moment

A natural time to request feedback is after the job is complete and the customer understands what was done. Staff can mention the review request at collection, then follow up with a direct link by email or message.

Make the review process easy

Google Business Profile allows businesses to create a direct review link or QR code. Google suggests sharing the link in places such as receipts, thank-you emails or the end of a customer interaction.

Do not offer incentives for reviews

Google states that reviews should reflect genuine experiences and that offering free or discounted goods or services in exchange for reviews is prohibited. Keep the request neutral and ask for honest feedback.

Respond professionally

  • Thank customers for positive feedback without using the same copied reply every time.
  • For negative feedback, avoid arguing publicly.
  • Invite the customer to contact the workshop where a private conversation would help.
  • Never disclose private job or customer information in a public response.

Make reviews part of the workflow

The most reliable system is not a once-a-year campaign. Add the review request to the normal completion process so staff know when it is appropriate to send it.
